Please someone explain to me how despite walking every day 3 miles this week which is a total of 5 hours 15 minutes of exercise AND eating under 1400 calories every day but one. How in the HELL can I have possible gained 2 pounds? PLEASE don't say muscle. Since June 1st, I am only down 2 pounds now. That isn't acceptable. I work my butt off to lose weight for nothing. I am sobbing while I write this. I am doing all the right things, and once again it isn't working for me. Just like my stupid surgery only worked for awhile. Don't bother responding with any platitudes, it doesn't matter what anyone says about it. There is nothing you can say that would make me feel better. I am frustrated, angry, and as depressed as I have been since I started.

Good luck to the rest of you though and I mean that sincerely. I would not wish this frustration on anyone.

Jennifer,

Cut it out!!!  You are doing a fine job - just look where you have come from - remember?

Weight just fluctuates,  and you will go down soon enough.  There are so many things that happen in our bodies!  You have been doing the right thing and if you look at your weight on a larger scale, it has gone down steadily!!!  Come on, you could have threw in the towel because of your  not so great WLS.  You didn't!  You've been challenging and you are winning.

I have been at WW for the past year and a half and my weight will bounce up even though I have a long term record of a downward trend.  Most everyone is like that, even men.

Love yourself, embrace yourself tighter AND like my surgeon always tells me, "just be happy".  I know, I could kill him for saying that sometimes but it is soooooo true.

I don't have a loss this week. I am the same as last monday. So I am not happy either.

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!

WATER weight! AND girl I hear ya! It makes ya want to take that scale and throw it right through the window!! I know I am pregnant and in a different place but I was doing good knowing i was not in the best place for me this past weekend by drinking water after water and still manage to retain 12 freaking pounds in one weekend so I get it!!!

Oh and I was told the average person can lose or gain the same 2 lbs in any given day!  So I just gained enough for 6 people!

Hang in there because from what I read you have been doing a great job!~

It *is* possible that it's muscle.

Are you giving yourself a break between walks?  Or are you going "balls to the wall" every day and not giving your body time to rest?  Are your legs sore each day from the walk before?

Yeah, it sucks.  I didn't lose this week either, and it IS frustrating as all hell.  I get it.

I walk everyday but I have for the last 4 months, rarely missing a day. I was doing 2.25 though and for the last few weeks added it to 3 miles. It takes 43 minutes and that is really all I am doing. I have not done the Wii Fit in weeks since I didn't feel any impact but maybe that is why I slowed so much and now have gained. My legs are only sore when I first start. I sweat a ton while walking though because of the heat so I "think" I am getting a good work out.

Thanks for getting it. Hopefully when we meet at Disney in 2 months we are both happier with our weights. OH and my BMI was 33.5 and now it is 33.87 or something. Just wanted to add that since I wasn't sure what it had been the other day.

Jennifer,

I'm not going to say anything to try and make you feel better, because I know NOTHING anyone says is going to help.  I am just going to agree with a PP who said...look at he whole picture and what you have done.  If I were you, I would get on the scale in the morning....because I would bet $100 that 2 pounds is gon and may have even taken some friends with them.

I hate weighing right now.  I was so excited to be up to 101 pounds, and then I went to the doc and I was down to 95.  I  was like WTF???? Because I KNOW I have not done one thing different and I still lost.  I did weigh on Friday at the doc and weighed 97 pounds...I'm still not happy with that because I don;t get rid of this effin TPN until I hit 115...it just sucks.  I drag around an IV bag 18 hours a day...and I feel like such an invalid...uggg!!!!

Okay thanks for letting me vent...maybe listen to me ***** will make you forget abouy yout bs got 3 minutes..

LOL

I love ya girl...

To bad we can't switch intestines for awhile. I'm sorry that you didn't gain as much as you thought. You stole my loss and I stole your gain!

For some reason I knew I would not lose this week. I didn't feel like I was losing all week despite the going to the bathroom more. Maybe next time I feel that way I shouldn't get on the scale.

Thanks for listening to me too. No matter what, we all have our struggles and demons. I have been down this road before and it is scary. It is where you pin all your hopes on something and it doesn't work. I stalled after losing 70 on Atkins and after losing 175 with surgery did the whole gaining back of 50-60 pounds. Now it seems this too is not working but I can't see stopping unless I gain every week. I just don't understand it.

I hope we both have a better week.

Oh gosh, I feel your pain! I was naughty and never changed my eating habbits, well a little bit, but not much. I enjoyed the ride my surgery gave me and the 130lbs I lost. Recently I started feeling a little funny and thought my "new" clothes were fitting a little oddly. Went to the Dr's and found out I HAVE GAINED 15 lbs!!! You know, they told me the "honeymoon" period would end, I just didn't buy it. Now I know it has and boy have I goofed! I got up and went to the Y today and walked the track, and then went to swim lessons with the munchkin, it's day 1 for exercise for me. I seriously have not really exercised since I had my surgery almost 2 years ago, SERIOUSLY! I skipped my usual iced coffee with cream and sugar this morning for a small hot coffee with skim milk, ICK. I'm so frustrated as well, I can so see where you are coming from!

Strange you posted this because it's my rant too. No rainbows here - I gained 3 pounds over the weekend w/out doing anything different. Made the kids step on the scale 4 times to test it. Nope, it's right. So I asked the Dr about it today and his suggestions:

1. Track calories burned vs eaten. The harder you exercise, the more calories you may need. The more muscle you are building, the more protein you may need to sustain it. And YES, muscle can add weight -sorry).

2. Vary your exercise. 3 days anaerobic, 4 days aerobic. Ideally cardio every other day and weight bearing/strengthing exercises on the other days.

3. Weigh at the same time and in the same clothes each week (duh!)

4. A woman can gain and lose a couple pounds with cycles. Some variance is normal.
5. Don't rely solely on weight to determine success. Take measurements and record them religiously. The scale can stay the same even when you lose inches.

I don't know what my issue is, but I'm trying to avoid the temptation to eat some crap food to soothe myself. Getting PG so soon postop has really messed up my RNY discipline. For emotional self-preservation, I am NOT weighing myself again until my surgiversary.

Hugs and understanding!
